Slate (1988?-unknown retirement year)
Visuals: At the top of the screen is the stacked text "TV23 PRODUCTIONS", with "TV23" in the same style as on the KTMA logo. Under it is production information in white.
Variants:
- One variant has a black background. Halfway into the slate, the production info disappears and in its place is ":10". The number flips over to ":9", then to ":8", and so on. The slate cuts to black when the counter reaches ":2".
- Another variant has a gray background. There is no countdown this time.
Technique: 2D computer animation, or none.
Audio: None.
Availability: Both known variants can be seen on the original masters for the first two produced episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (the unaired pilot, "The Green Slime", and "Invaders from the Deep" respectively). A second of this slate is intact on a VHX print of the latter.
