1st Logo (1980's) | 2nd Logo (1990-1994) | 3rd Logo (1994-2004) | 4th Logo (2004-2008) | 5th Logo (2008-2010?) | 6th Logo (2010?-2012) | 7th Logo (2012-) |
1st Logo (1980's)
Visuals: On a white background, five pieces of the left and right sides of a red-blue horizontal oval flip in, followed by four heel-shaped pieces. Afterwards, four diamonds in the opposite colors within their respective quadrants flip in. Fading in below is the company name in a serif font and the copyright notice in a stacked format: the copyright year on top and "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED" on the bottom.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: None.
Availability: It was so far seen on Shark in the Park, which is intact on NZ on Screen.
2nd Logo (1990-1994)
Visuals: On a steel blue background, the logo from before with the four stars in white is shown above the company name in the same font as before and in white.
Variant: An in-credit variant exists.
Technique: A still, computerized graphic.
Audio: The ending theme of the programme.
Availability: The normal logo can be seen on Betty's Bunch, which has this logo intact on the 1990 Channel 4 VHS of said series. The in-credit variant was seen on The Boy From Andromeda.
3rd Logo (1994-2004)
Visuals: Usually an in-credit notice consisting of the company name intersecting each other and in an outline. The letters' respective colors are white, red, green, and dodger blue.
Technique: A still, computerized graphic.
Audio: None or the ending theme of the programme.
Availability: Can be seen on Showcase and among other programmes from this period.
4th Logo (2004-2008)
Visuals: On a dark teal background with flying outlined, vertical bars, the text "TVNZ PRODUCTION" fades in on the right side of the screen.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A dramatic string sting and then a four note melancholy piano tune accompanied with wind. Otherwise, the ending theme of the programme plays over.
Availability: It can be found on Ellerslie, The Amazing Extraordinary Friends, the first two seasons of Sensing Murder, and Living Dream, among other original programmes. Like before, some of these shows are intact on NZ on Screen or on-demand websites such as Amazon Freevee.
5th Logo (2008-2010?)
Visuals: On a white background with multicolored, long plastic capsules standing from the distance, the logo from before in 3D spins around, rearranging to read "NZTV". Several capsules from the background move towards the front of the camera, obscuring the logo from view. One of these capsules turn around to show a girl on a swing near a tree with "MADE IN NEW ZEALAND" fading in on the bottom right.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A guitar theme, or the ending theme of the programme.
Availability: Can be seen on I Am TV, in beTWEEN, Marae, seasons 3-4 of Sensing Murder, among others.
6th Logo (2010?-2016)
Visuals: On a smoky teal background is the logo from before in a steely texture and "NZ" is turquoise.
Technique: A still, CGI graphic.
Audio: None.
Availability: Was so far only seen on Intersexion Finding a Place in a Two Gender World.
7th Logo (2016-)
Visuals: On a black background, two electric blue orbs made of small, rapidly spinning lights are seen. They, alongside many other orbs, zoom out and dissolve into a bigger trail of light. The light is joined by others trails which spin around radially and form a blue-cyan gradient ball made of multiple outlined circles. The company name in white and a merged font fades in below.
Variants:
- A shortened variant has the logo start where the orbs dissolve into the light trail.
- A print version of the logo, consisting of the company name standing to the right of the ball, is sometimes used as an in-credit logo.
- On GLASS, the logo is inside a white box.
- Sometimes, the logo is paired with other logos, shrinking TVNZ's logo into a box.
- On Under the Vines, the logo is small.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A poignant piano soundtrack alongside multiple whooshes coming from the light trails. Otherwise, it's the ending theme of the programme.
Availability: It is seen on many original programmes from New Zealand including GLAS, Under the Vines, and Mystic. Several streaming sites around the world such as SBS on Demand and YLE Areena has these shows and this logo intact, although they are unavailable outside of their native regions. The full logo can be found on FBOY Island NZ.
