Background
This is the home video unit of TV Tokyo.
1st Logo (1985-1996)
Visuals: On a white background, there is a blue square which is behind a red circle placed on the upper-right corner of it. Below, the text "TV TOKYO VIDEO" wipes in and has the first "V" with a blue upside down triangle on it.
Variant: An alternate version has the logo zooming out.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Found on various home video prints of animes and documentaries that aired on TV Tokyo, such as The History of the Great Pacific War in Color.
2nd Logo (1996-September 1998)
Visuals: A red ball comes out of an invisible rectangle prism filled with silver water. While the logo zooms out, the liquid turns blue and the ball sets on the top-left corner of the blue rectangle. The logo zooms out and the "TV TOKYO" wordmark in silver, splashes on the screen.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A crystallized theme with a choir at the end.
Availability: Found on pre-1998 home video releases of TV Tokyo anime. It was also seen on The End of Evangelion movie released in 1997.
3rd Logo (October 1998-2011)
Visuals: A short version showing the final seconds of the 1998 TV Tokyo ID, with the whole logo placed on a white background. Also, the animation is played a little faster.
Technique: CGI using Softimage 3D Extreme.
Audio:
- 1998: A synthetized THX-like sound.
- 1999-2011: An upbeat, descending arpeggio played twice with a synth glockenspiel.
Availability: Found on later VHS and DVD releases of various TV Tokyo programs, like Goddotan.
