I'm just wondering: why should they remain separate other than having cleaner animation? The original art style of the logo is essentially intact on the current one, just with the final appearance having a slightly lighter appearance. It's like saying the updated variants for the 20th Television and Columbia Pictures logos should be considered as different logos just because they have more enhanced animation. I don't see a major difference between the 1st and 2nd logos.
