Background
This is the production company of Donald Tang.
| |||||||||
1st Logo (June 24, 2016)
Visuals: Sharing with the Route One Entertainment (top-left), IM Global (top-right) and Swing Lake Entertainment (bottom-left) logos on a black background, at the bottom-right is the connected word "TANG" in white with "MediaProductions" underneath it.
Technique: A still digital graphic.
Audio: The closing theme.
Availability: Seen at the end of Free State of Jones.
2nd Logo (July 29, 2016-)
Visuals: On a black tiled surface is the same "TANG" from the previous logo, but in gold with "MEDIA PRODUCTIONS" in a different font on a black square. The camera pans from the bottom-left to the center, shining the text along the way and the black surface becomes black.
Variants:
- On The Bye Bye Man (the last movie to use the normal version), it cuts in at the beginning.
- On November 1, 2017, beginning with A Bad Mom's Christmas, the text is replaced with the connected "TMP".
Technique: CGI designed by Ben O'Mara and animated by Michael Daniels at Devastudios.
Audio: A uplifting theme played by a string section.
Audio Variants:
- On Bad Moms (the first movie to use this logo), when the last note plays, the opening theme starts playing, leading to the film's opening.
- The other variants have the opening theme playing over it.
Availability: The normal version is seen on The Edge of Seventeen.
3rd Logo (Hybrid Land) (September 24, 2017-)
Visuals: Particles of various colors rise up on a black background. The particles form a cityscape, then the camera zooms out and shows the particles expand and grow to form a map of a landscape. The lights dim as the word "TANG Media Productions" is formed.
Trivia: The logo was inspired by pointilism art (paintings made from dots) and the use of new technologies: LIDAR technniques (used to make digital 3D representations of areas) and light field cameras (used to modify lighting in scenes).
Variants:
- Following a change from "TANG Media Productions" to "TANG Media Partners", it is shortened to the forming of the "TMP" text.
- On Mile 22, the previous logo text is used.
Technique: CGI, again created at Devastudios. A behind-the-scenes featurette can be seen on their website.
Audio: A slightly different, string-driven, uplifting fanfare.
Audio Variants:
- On The Happytime Murders, after the music fanfare ends, the opening theme starts playing that leads to the Henson Alternative logo.
- The short version has the opening sounds or the opening song playing over it.
Availability: Used in tandem with the previous logo. The "TMP" version has debuted on every movie that they produced/co-produced ever since. However, the full name version is seen on Mile 22.
Unused Logos
Parametric (2010s)
Visuals: There are multiple angles of skyscraper-like glass panels and metal beams unfold and twist to form the "TANG" text in the sky. It turns to solid metal as it zooms out. "MEDIA PRODUCTIONS" appears below.
Technique: CGI by Michael Daniels at Devastudios.
Audio: Unknown, as all that survives is style frames.
Availability: Unused. Can only be seen in the form of style frames on Michael Daniels' website here.
Hidden Perspective 1 (2010s)
Visuals: Various 3D shadowy objects twist around to play with light and shadow. They eventually form the "TANG" text. "MEDIA PRODUCTIONS" appears below.
Technique: Same as "Parametric".
Audio: Same as "Parametric"
Availability: Same as "Parametric".
Hidden Perspective 2 (2010s)
Visuals: In darkness, some light appears. More light appears, revealing different shapes and objects and the shadows they cast. As the camera moves, it is revealed that they create the "TANG" text when viewed at a certain angle that the camera settles on (much like the 2004-2015 Channel 4 IDs). "MEDIA PRODUCTIONS" appears below and the logo turns to print.
Technique: Same as "Parametric".
Audio: Same as "Parametric"
Availability: Same as "Parametric".
