Background

Telenorte, originally launched as TVUN Red del Norte, was a Chilean television channel, which had stations in the cities of Arica, Antofagasta, Iquique and La Serena. The channel would start broadcasting in 1973 after experimental broadcasting. In 2001, the channel would finally close due economical crisis. A plan was made by F2 Producciones (the actual "owner" of Telenorte) to revive the channel during 2011, but it never came to fruition. The channel was finally revived in 2019, starting as an online channel.

1st Logo (1982-1995)

Nicknames: "North Sunburst", "White Sun"

Logo: On a dark blue background, some neon blue rings appear moving to the center of the screen, spinning. Then the rings disappear leaving the logo of the Universidad Catolica del Norte, and it becomes metallic. On the upper side the circle "explodes" in many needles, and the lower part of the circle shrinks and expands in the other side, forming a sun silhouette. The other parts of the logo (the screen, the words) appear later.

Variants:

  • On a evening footage of the sea, we see the same logo (but with a slightly different look) flying to the screen. After the announcer said his words, the logo flies out the screen.
  • On a blue geometrical background (somewhat similar the UCTV ID from 1990) appear the Telenorte logo moving to the screen. The screen moves a bit to the logo.
  • A more complex variant consist in a sky background. A blue TV screen is moving towards the screen while flipping, and once it stops moving, the white sun silhouette expands a the word "TELENORTE" appear letter by letter. The logo deforms, and a yellow shape (with the form of part of the Chilean north territory) appear moving out of the screen. The stations (represented by blue and red shapes and the cities names) appear in this shape. Finally, after the map is out of the screen, the same animation of the Telenorte logo from the beginning is presented.

FX/SFX: TBA

Music/Sounds: TBA

Music/Sounds Variants: TBA for the 1st and 2nd variants. The 3rd variant has the song Is It Love by Twenty 4 Seven.

Availability: Near extinction.

Editor's Note: It's a very popular logo among Chileans.

2nd Logo (1995-2000)

Nicknames: "North Sunburst II", "Yellow Sun"

Logo: We see different video shots of the daily life. Then, starting with another shot, we see the yellow north territory of Chile on a side, next to a water surface/texture. The stations are shown by dots and names appearing in the map. Once all the stations are presented, the animation cuts with a blue 3D TV screen (facing a bit to the left) while a "structure" of the sunburst (this time yellow) and the words appear falling to the TV screen.

Variants:

  • Computer: TBA
  • Satellite: TBA

FX/SFX: TBA

Music/Sounds: TBA

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: This version is not very popular as its predecessor.

3rd Logo (2000-2001)

Nicknames: "The Orbit"

Logo: On a blue water surface, the Telenorte logo appear spinning while moving down and later to the middle of the screen. It stops and shines, and below the words "Siempre junto a usted..." appear expanding.

FX/SFX: 3D animation.

Music/Sounds: A flute theme which ends with a female choir singing "Telenorte".

Availability: Extinct. This was the last ID used by the channel before is closure.

Editor's Note: This logo is often hated by Chileans due its ugly appearance and, specially, due the fact it replaced the previous iconic logo. Not a good way to end a popular channel.
