Background

The Hong Kong motion picture rating system was established under the Movie Screening Ordinance Cap.392 on 10 November 1988, where level III films were for "Persons Aged 18 and Above Only". The Category III classification is equivalent to R or NC17 in the United States.

Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority (TELA) was responsible for film classification, control of obscene and indecent articles and newspaper registration, until the Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration (OFNAA) takes over former TELA’s functions in 2012.

Bumper: On a green background, we see the two red Chinese characters, suddenly a shadow triangle in white crashed letters into the following graphic in Chinese and English.

Music/Sounds: A Chinese announcer is heard with glass breaking and a piano sound. Then a gong sound and a English announcer says "this film has been classified as Category (number)".
