Background

Thanasis Vengos Tainies Geliou (ΘΒ Ταινίες Γέλιου) was the film studio company owned by famed national comedian Thanasis Veggos (Θανάσης Βέγγος in Greek alphabet).

(1967-1969, 1983)

Logo: On a gray background, a filmstrip figure with white-colored holes and the Greek letters ΘΒ in the center is shown. After a brief zoom-in to the logo, the words of "Θανάσης Βέγγος" and "Ταινίες Γέλιου" underneath, in handwritten script, appear one-by-one.

Variant: A color version also exists, with the background and elements of the logo tinted in pink.

FX/SFX: The zoom-in and the appearance of the text.

Music/Sounds: A loud patriotic horn fanfare plays at the beginning (an excerpt of Gioachino Rossini's "William Tell Overture: Finale"), followed by a cymbal crash, and then two weird spring-like sounds, ending with a loud bombastic orchestral note.

Availability: Seen on Thanasis Veggos films released in the time period. It has made a surprise appearance on the company's last film, Trellos kai pasis Ellados (with the colored variant).

Legacy: It is a favorite for people who grew up with Veggos's own films.
