The Gurin Company
Background
The Gurin Company is the vanity card for executive producer Phil Gurin.
1st Logo (September 1, 1997-2001)
Logo: On a dark cloud sky background, we see a blue neon sign that is turned off, reading "the GURIN Company", with a star next to "the". "the" is in a lowercase blocky font, "GURIN" is in an uppercase blocky font, and "Company" is in a script font. A human hand then knocks a finger onto the sign, turning it on, and "the GURIN Company" text flashes in different patterns (the "U" in "GURIN" flashes differently from the rest), and the light-blue star lights up by each line one-by-one.
Technique: Live-action and CGI.
Music/Sounds: Crickets are heard at the start, then a "thunk" as the hand touches the sign, and electrical zap sounds when the sign lights up.
Music/Sounds Variant: Sometimes, the end theme of the show is used, or network promos or generic themes play over it.
Availability: Seen on The World's Most Incredible Animal Rescues 2, KISS Live: The Ultimate Halloween Party, The All-New 3's a Crowd, Twenty-One (2000 version), and early Weakest Link USA episodes.
2nd Logo (September 24, 2001-2010)
Logo: On a black background, we see blue streaks of light streaking throughout. The word "GURIN" (in a curved Art Deco font) zooms out, while an oval forms at the same time, forming a logo similar to the DuPont and DuMont logos. The words "THE" and "COMPANY" in orange fade in on the top-left and bottom-right corners of the oval.
Variant: On the Australian version of The Singing Bee, the streaks are orange instead of blue.
Technique: CGI.
Music/Sounds: A synth "whoosh". On syndicated Weakest Link episodes, this music can be heard over the BBC logo as well.
Availability: Seen on later episodes of Weakest Link (which includes the NBC and the syndicated version), Queen for a Day (2004 special), and The Singing Bee. This doesn't appear on Lingo.
3rd Logo (September 27, 2012-)
Logo: On a black background with blue smoke, the "GURIN" oval, now much shinier than before, zooms out. The words "THE" and "COMPANY" appear via light streaks.
Variants:
- Sometimes, the smoke is absent.
- A short version exists.
- A still version also exists.
Technique: CGI.
Music/Sounds: A soft whoosh.
Availability: Seen on Oh Sit!, the NAAPC Image Awards, OWN Spotlight: Honoring Our Kings, Celebrating Black Fatherhood and Canada's Ultimate Challenge.
