Background

The Mark Gordon Company, formerly known as The Meledandri/Gordon Company, is an American television and film production company founded by Mark Gordon and Chris Meledandri (the eventual founder of Illumination) in 1987. In 1991, Meledandri exited the company and it was renamed to the current name. In 2015, Entertainment One bought 51% of the company and later bought the rest of it in August 2018. Gordon briefly served as eOne's president until July 25, 2019, when he stepped down.

1st Logo (September 7-October 12, 2003)

Visuals: Essentially just a white rectangle with the blue words "THE MARK GORDON COMPANY" inside on a black background.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None, the generic theme on CBS, or the end theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on Footsteps, the TV movie that was aired on CBS and And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself.

2nd Logo (September 13, 2004-January 14, 2022)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a white, outlined rectangle with the words:

THE
MARK GORDON
COMPANY

Variants:

  • On The Messenger, the logo zooms a bit.
  • On The Details and the end of Source Code, there are two white lines sliding from the left and the right to reveal "MARK GORDON", this time in purple. The words "THE" and "COMPANY" fade in on the top and bottom. The two lines draw and form the rectangle and the text stops moving.
  • Starting in 2015, a byline saying "an entertainmentOne Company" appears below the logo.
  • On Molly's Game, the two white lines from before reveal "MG" (Mark Gordon's initials) in purple with the words "THE" on the top and "COMPANY" on the bottom. The white lines form the rectangle, and the byline for Entertainment One appears on the bottom right of the logo, which zooms in a bit.

Technique: A still, digital graphic. Computer animation for the animated variants.

Audio: None, the closing theme or the generic network theme.

Availability: Seen on Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy until season 14, its spin-off Private Practice, Army Wives, Ray Donovan, Quantico, the first two seasons of Designated Survivor, among others.

3rd Logo (October 20-December 20, 2006)

Visuals: On a black background, the screen fades in to see the white words moving, placing their position:

THE
MARK GORDON
COMPANY

A red square blurs out to see it clear. Everything zooms out a bit slowly, then fades out.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen only on The Painted Veil and The Hoax.
