Background

Threshold Entertainment Group is former Lightstorm Entertainment president and co-founder Lawrence Kasanoff's production company, best known for producing films/TV series based on Mortal Kombat and (far more infamously) Foodfight!.

1st Logo (September 21-December 14, 1996)

Logo: On a white background, the blue text "THRESHOLD ENTERTAINMENT", with the former word on top of the latter fade in.

Technique: The text fading in. Rather uninspired.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the program.

Availability: Ultra rare. Was only seen on original TV airings of Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, but most prints of the series has the credits end with no logos whatsoever or simply the Saban Brands logo. However, it is retained on the Kombat Begins Again VHS release.

2nd Logo (October 3-December 12, 1998)

Logo: On a black/blue gradient background, we see a silhouette of a man. The silhouette moves into a fighting position as the white text "A Lawrence Kasanoff / Threshold Entertainment Production" wipe onto the background.

Technique: The silhouette and the text.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on episodes of Mortal Kombat: Conquest up until "Thicker Than Blood".

3rd Logo (February 6-May 22, 1999)

Logo: We zoom into an opening door, which leads to a cloudy background. The letters of the text from the first logo fly into place.

Theatrical Variant: Same concept, except that when we go through the door we see the company name rotate into view as the sun shines over it.

Technique: The door and the text flying. Much better than the previous two logos.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the program. On the Episode 22 of Mortal Kombat: Conquest a door creaking sound was heard.

Availability: See above. Seen on Mortal Kombat: Conquest episodes beginning with "Shadow of a Doubt". The theatrical variant appeared at the start of Beowulf (1999).

4th Logo (May 3, 2012-)

Logo: It starts with a solar eclipse, emitting a purple aura. The eclipse lightens and reveals a circular metallic doorway. The left side is covered while the right is opened, revealing a starry galaxy. "THRESHOLD ENTERTAINMENT" or "ANIMATION STUDIOS" is below the logo in blue.

Technique: The reveal.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the movie. Bobbleheads: The Movie used a majestic fanfare.

Availability: Seen on Foodfight! and Bobbleheads: The Movie, and possibly other productions by the company as well.
