Background
TikTok (known as Douyin (抖音) in China) is a Chinese social network founded in 2016. It was launched by ByteDance in Beijing, China in September 2016, originally under the name A.me, before rebranding to Douyin in December 2016, before being launched as Tiktok internationally the following year.
