'''Logo:''' A white conjoined, slanted "TL" (with the L connected near the end of the T) zooms into place onto a television-like box with a red screen (any other color is due to film deterioration) in the center, trailing itself as it goes (a la the 1978-81 Filmways logo). Once it reaches the screen, it quickly flashes and merges with the box forming the logo. On the bottom of the screen, the text "A TIME-LIFE FILMS PRODUCTION" appears underneath the logo completing its formation. This time the logo is filmed. |

Background
Time-Life Films was the film production and distribution arm of Time-Life and Time Inc.
1st Logo (1967-1972)
-
Early inverted variant
-
B&W variant
-
Teal variant
-
Light blue variant
Logo: On a blue background, we see on the top the words "DISTRIBUTED BY", being seen in white At the bottom we see a 1961 Time Life print logo with the text "FILMS" in white.
Variant:
- A black and white version exists.
- There is another black and white version where the colors are inverted.
FX/SFX: None, it's a still logo.
Music/Sounds: Silent.
Availability: Extremely rare. Seen on films from their catalogue such as Small Wilderness and Animal Communication. The inverted variant was seen on Dr. Carl Gustav Jung.
2nd Logo (1972-1978)
Logo: On a red or orange background, we see on the left the words "DISTRIBUTED BY", being every word on a row. At the left we see a black filmstrip. Over that filmstrip, the words "TIME LIFE" and under it "FILMS" is seen. Under that is camera lens, being every part of its diaphragm on a different color of the rainbow.
FX/SFX: None, it's a still logo.
Music/Sounds: Silent.
Availability: Extinct. Was seen on some afterschool specials, and episodes of NOVA distributed by this company, but most footage of these programs have been out of circulation for a long time.
3rd Logo (1978?-1982)
Logo: A white conjoined, slanted "TL" (with the L connected near the end of the T) zooms into place onto a television-like box with a red screen (any other color is due to film deterioration) in the center, trailing itself as it goes (a la the 1978-81 Filmways logo). Once it reaches the screen, it quickly flashes and merges with the box forming the logo. On the bottom of the screen, the text "A TIME-LIFE FILMS PRODUCTION" appears underneath the logo completing its formation. This time the logo is filmed.
Variants:
- On some movies, a copyright stamp is seen.
- An in-credit variant of this logo exists.
FX/SFX: The "TL" trailing onto the empty shell of the logo and "flashing" into place. Typical Scanimate effects.
Music/Sounds: Silent.
Availability: Available at the end of some Time-Life produced movies, most notably Fort Apache, the Bronx. Don't expect to see it on the original Vestron Video release, though.
