Background

United Filmmakers Organization is a Chinese film company founded in 1992. They produced about 30 films before going dormant in 2015 with Keeper of Darkness. Their library can be found here.

1st Logo (1992?-2014)

Logo: On a black background set at night with stars, we see a blue silhouette of a person rolling a director on a chair coming to the right. We then see more people setting up film equipment fade in as the stars begin to blink. We then see the letters "UFO" fade in as all the silhouettes turn black. The black background then turns into a brighter shade of blue, as a shooting star flies in from the bottom left. The logo freeze-frames as the company's English name appears at the bottom, with below a line being the Chinese version of the name.

FX/SFX: The people moving in (likely rotoscoped), and the letters and sky fading in, with the shooting star. This was all likely done with 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: None, or the opening theme. There is a rare fanfare, however, with it having a dark synth hit followed by turning into an 12-note triumphant theme, with multiple, quieter synth hits ending it.

Availability: Common. First appeared on The Days of Being Dumb, and ending with I Love Hong Kong.

2nd Logo (2014-present)

Logo: Same as the first one, but there are some differences. The lighting people's bright light starts the logo and the people are standing in their stationary positions. The text also fades in considerably faster, and is animated. This logo also has improved animation over the last one, with it being more realistic.

FX/SFX: The UFO text, the sky, the shooting star, and the people fading in. This version was likely done with computer animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Current. It first appeared on Horseplay, and has appeared on the company's films since then.

Editor's Note: This logo looks pretty nice.
