Following MCA's renaming to Universal Studios by Seagram's, MCA TV renamed itself to Universal Television Enterprises, and acquired all of the assets from Multimedia Entertainment, which Universal bought out in 1996, including The Jerry Springer Show. On October 20, 1997, Universal announced it would sell USA Network, Sci-Fi Channel, Universal Television and the rights to the 1929-1949 Paramount Pictures sound feature film library to HSN Inc. (a company owned by Barry Diller) for $4.075 billion, who renamed it to Studios USA Television LLC. The deal was closed in 1998.
Note: Media released by Universal Television Enterprises from January 1997 to October 1997 use a short version of the 1990 Universal Pictures logo without any indicator.
Visuals: Same as the 1997 Universal Television logo, but the name reads as "UNIVERSAL TELEVISION ENTERPRISES, INC. EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTOR" as it fades in under the logo. The copyright notice is also intact.
Variant: A longer version of the logo also exists, starting out with the "UNIVERSAL" name making its way to the front of the globe, and the name appears below the logo after it before the logo finally zooms back to its position before the copyright appears.
Technique: CGI animation by Picturemill.
Audio: Same as the 1997 Universal Television logo, based on the Universal Pictures fanfare by Jerry Goldsmith.
