Background

The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP; English: Association of Philippine Broadcasters) is a non-profit, non-government organization that represents radio and television broadcasters in the Philippines. It was established on April 27, 1973 with 19 founding members, but soon expanded in a few months to include virtually all radio and television broadcast stations within the country. Initially, the KBP worked with the national government in formulating and implementing policies for the development of Philippine broadcast media. After the lifting of martial law in 1981, the KBP established its own system of self-regulation and standards for radio and television stations, and since 1990, the KBP has annually held the Golden Dove Awards to honor broadcast practitioners for their contributions and achievements in the broadcast industry. As a national association of broadcasters, the KBP is an associate member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.

1st Logo (Still variants) (mid-1970s-late 2010s?)

Visuals: Superimposed onto the background is an outlined square with a vertical line in the middle and a bunch of outlined circles on either side of that line with the text "KBP" in Malayan-style lettering below the square.

Variants:

  • In 1987, the KBP logo was slightly redesigned with the KBP wordmark becoming shorter in height.
  • Some TV station IDs have the word "Member" displayed above the KBP logo, signifying the TV station's membership in that association.
  • Depending on the station ID, the background and the color scheme of the logo varies.
    • 1978 and 1980 IBC-13 station IDs: The background is reddish sepia, the square has a white fill with the border and the dipole in dark blue, the KBP wordmark is white, and the word "MEMBER" is seen above the square in a white Microgramma Bold font.
    • 1982 RPN-9 "The Leader" station ID: The background is a starfield with the KBP logo in yellow and the word "Member" above in a white, blocky italic font.
    • 2001 Net 25 "Feed Your Mind" station ID: The background is black and the KBP logo is white. The word "member" is seen above in white.
    • 2000s ABC-5 "Come Home to ABC" station ID: Same as the one seen after the 2001 Net 25 station ID, but the KBP logo is bigger and the word "member" is in a white Comic Sans font with spaced-out letters.
  • A variant with the "Kasama ng Bawat Pilipino" (English: "Companion of every Filipino") slogan has the background in white with a black KBP logo, and the slogan positioned below the logo in black.

Technique: Either a still, printed image or a still, digital graphic (in later years).

Audio: Usually none or the music of the station ID that precedes this logo.

Availability:

  • The logo appears on the following station IDs:
    • 1978 and 1980 IBC-13 station IDs (shown after)
    • 1982 RPN-9 "The Leader" (shown before and after); however, it could be seen on other TV stations at the time
    • 2001 Net 25 "Feed Your Mind" (shown after)
    • 2000s ABC-5 "Come Home to ABC" (shown after)
  • The "Kasama ng Bawat Pilipino" variant appeared on ABS-CBN broadcasts around 1999-2001.

? Logo (1986?-1989?)

Visuals: Basically an updated version of the KBP logo that follows the 1982 RPN-9 station ID. The starfield background is now animated and fades to black after a few seconds, and the word "MEMBER" is in full uppercase and in yellow.

Technique: Scanimate?

Audio: Possibly none, or the background music that carried over from the station ID.

Availability: Seen after the RPN-9 station ID from around 1986-1989. However, it could be seen on other TV stations at the time.

? Logo (RPN-9 variant) (2003-2006)

Visuals: The screen fades in to live-action footage of a waving Philippine flag. The phrase "Towards a Strong Republic", positioned at the bottom of the screen in white and uppercase, wipes in from left. Then the screen fades to a space background with a huge KBP logo in white and the word "MEMBER" above, also in white and having the letters spaced-out.

Technique: Live-action (for the waving flag footage), and CGI?

Audio: An orchestral fanfare which rises up during the footage of the waving flag, then becomes more bombastic when the KBP logo is shown.

Availability: Seen after the RPN-9 "Moving Ahead" station ID from 2003-2006.

? Logo (ZOE-TV variant) (2005?-2007)

Visuals: Over a black background, a three-dimensional KBP logo, in a teal color, moves into place and shines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: TBA.

Availability: Seen after a 2001 ZOE-TV station ID.
