Goodbye for Now! Productions

Background

This is the vanity card of Australian content creator Dylan Jones, which has only produced content related to Tofupupper, a character created by Jones based on his pet dog Tofu/Tommy.

It is branded on-screen as Goodbye For Now! productions. (and early on simply Goodbye for Now!). Additionally, the name of the company derives from one of Tofupupper's signature catchphrases.

1st Logo (Mid 2018-Late 2019)

Visuals: Against a pink silk background, we see a Shiba inu (Tofu) panting happily. Underneath Tofu's mouth is two tiny texts, yellow English text reading "Goodbye for Now!' in Futura and light purple Japanese translated text. After the phrase "Goodbye For Now!" is said, Tofu then winks at the camera.

Variants:

  • Multiple updated versions were used simultaneously between late 2018 to 2019.
    • The first one has the camera not as zoomed in as before. Both the English and Japanese text are bigger with the Japanese one now being in red.
    • The second is the same as the regular variant expect the English and Japanese text are more cartoony. The English text is blue and the Japanese text is red, like the first updated variant. This version is seen with or without a VHS filter.
    • The third one is the same as the second variant, except the English text is now white and the Japanese text is blue. This is the most common of the updated variants.
    • The fourth one is the same as the previous variant but the text has reverted back to yellow.
    • The fifth and final one is virtually identical to the previous three except now the English text is magenta and the Japanese text is white.
  • On the first time it was used as seen in the 2018 short "The Secret to Smiles". Tofu is still seen panting, however, he is zoomed out. This is before the camera zooms in and the logo continues.
  • Sometimes, the logo changes aspect ratios depending on each video.
  • In the short My favorite time of day, Tofu is seen wearing a bunch of flowers around his neck and has a pinwheel is his mouth. He then winkes at the camera like the main logo. There is no text in this variant.
  • In the short film, Tofu's Planet Earth, a different zoom up shot of Tofu panting is used where Tofu is sitting on a red dog bed, against a colorful wall. The Goodbye for Now text is now white and in the Gotham font. It disappears after it has been said.
  • On a joke video named Tofu's Journey, a photo-puppetry version of Tofu (animated similarly to the show Wonder Pets!) circles around the sun before it explodes in a blue color. Four tinier versions of Tofu doing the same action fly out and the original one spirals out of control. A extreme close-up of Tofu from the main variant is seen faintly background. Like the My favorite time of day variant, there is no text.

Technique: Live-action video and digital video editing.

Audio: Tofupupper (voiced by online voice actor WabisabiSalon) saying "Goodbye For Now" and then a stock winking sound.

Audio Variants:

  • Occasionally, the Goodbye For Now line is re-recorded to sound more energetic and cheery.
  • In the My favourite time of day variant, we hear the tail-end theme of the playful theme heard in the video with the same wink as before. A echoed version of Tofu's "Goodbye For Now" is heard after this.
  • The Tofu's Planet Earth variant features a narrator (Mark Mayer) trying to find the aforementioned line and flipping through some papers. He then says "Goodbye For Now" and the winking sound from the normal variant is played, syncing up with text disappearing.
  • On Tofu's Day At The Beach, it uses the 3rd updated variant and the wink is replaced with the coin collect sound from Super Mario Bros.

Availability: Seen throughout most Tofupupper videos during 2018 and late 2019.

2nd logo (2019)

Visuals: On a sky blue background, a bunch of multicolored stars stretch out across the screen, leaving a group of rainbow stripes on-screen. No text is shown.

Trivia: This footage is likely from somewhere else, although the original source hasn't been found. It is also seen earlier in the episode in the opening.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A loud harsh explosion, followed by an equally loud but not as harsh whoosh.

Availability: Used a one-time variant for the first episode of Motivation Time w/ Tofu.

3rd logo (late 2019-present)

Visuals: The logo begins the same as the first logo with the texts now being the cartoony ones from the updates. The English text is white and the Japanese text is yellow with a magenta outline. When Tofu blinks, the logo then zooms out inside of a white box against a magenta background. When the box fully zooms out, the English text says inside the box while the Japanese text goes outside it. Tofu also winks a second time. After he winks, the Japanese text transitions into white Helvetica text saying "productions."

Variants:

  • Some Tofupupper videos feature an altered version of the animation where the box is zooming out in different way, changing from a stretched box to its normal proportions. The "productions." text is also smaller.
  • The logo is sometimes seen in different color backdrops.
    • In Motivation Is Good For Your Health!, the logo is against a blue-orange gradient backdrop with a more realistic VHS filter.
    • In a PSA from Tofu Chan, the logo is against a white background. The "productions." text is changed to black.
  • In the 4 hour video Tofu Is Good For Your Sleep, a chroma key video of Tofu is seen during the tail end of the video sliding from bottom of the screen. After saying "Goodbye For Now" before sliding back down. No text is seen in this variant.

Technique: Same as before, now with the additional simple 2D animation.

Audio: Same as the first logo, but after the wink, a cheerful synthesized tone plays with Tofu then saying "Productions" afterwards.

Audio Variants:

  • Beginning in early 2020, Tofu's line is once again re-recorded to be more energetic. This audio variant is used simultaneously with the main one.
  • The Tofu Is Good For Your Sleep variant features Tofu softly saying "Goodbye For Now".

Availability: Seen throughout all Tofupupper videos (excluding early Motivation Time w/ Tofu episodes) beginning in late 2019.
