Background

VTech is a Hong Kong-based manufacturer and supplier of electronic products. The company was founded in 1976 under Video Technology Limited, distributing early video game consoles. Their product scope later changed towards personal computers in the 1980s, and, since the 1990s, electronic edutainment / children's products and cordless phones. The company would release the V.Smile series of edutainment consoles in 2004. In 2015, the company's servers were suspect of a data breach of its recent products which resulted in a $650,000 fine.
