Background

Vardar Film (Macedonian: Вардар Филм) is a film production and distribution company based in Skopje, North Macedonia. It began its operations in 1947, during the time when North Macedonia was part of the former Yugoslavia.

The company was responsible for the creation of several noteworthy films, including Tattoo (1991), Happy New Year '49 (1986), Haj Faj (1987), Tri Ani (1959), and The Mountain of Anger (1968). Additionally, Vardar Film produced approximately 700 documentary, short, and animated films between 1947 and 1991.

In 2013, the Macedonian government decided to change the company's name from Vardar Film Skopje to Vardar Film Macedonia.

1st Logo (February 20, 1948)

Visuals: Superimposed over the opening scene, the following is seen:

2nd Logo (1950-1953?)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a pentagon, stylized to resemble the front of a ship, with a water line below. On top of the pentagon, there is a star. Within the pentagon, there is the text "ВАРДАР". Below, on the base of the "ship", there is the text "ФИЛМ". Underneath the water line, there is "Скопје" in a script font. Below, there is "ПРИКAЖУВА".

Variants:

• Most of the time, the logo is in-credit.
• An early version can be spotted on the 1950 documentary film Narodna tehnika. Here, the star is smaller, "ВАРДАР" is bigger and overlaps the pentagon, "ФИЛМ" is over the water line, and "СКОПЈЕ" is written in uppercase and in a serif font.

Availability: Can be seen on their films and documentaries such as Народна техника, Фросина, Бели мугри and others.

3rd Logo (October 16, 1953-1991?)

Visuals: On a black background, a redrawn version of the emblem from before is seen. The star is removed and lines are seen on the "ship's" hull. "СКОПЈЕ" is seen on the water lines, which may have the middle part of it in white (and "СКОПЈЕ" would be in black). Below, there is "ПРИКAЖУВА", spaced-out in early films and in a script font on later films.

Variant: Like before, this logo is usually in-credit.

Audio: The opening theme or none.

Availability: Can be seen on films from the period such as Ispravi se Delfina, Во пресрет на изборите, Тито меѓу нас and others.

4th Logo (May 27, 1997)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the emblem from before in a red color scheme with "MACEDONIA" underneath. All the text in the emblem is in Latin instead of Macedonian. Below, there is the following text in white:
