Background

Video Shark was a pirate DVD producer and distributor from Mexico, most active during the late-2000s to early 2010s.

1st Logo (2009-2011)

Logo begins at 1:11.

Logo begins at 0:37.

Visuals: On an orange background with a yellow spotlight, a beige symbol of a shark's head with its mouth open inside an outlined circle zooms from us before settling. The text "VIDEO SHARK" then zooms and rotates from us and settles under the logo.

Variant: On later DVDs, the background starts out completely black and the spotlight at the bottom fades in white once the text appears. The entire logo also emits lights once the text settles.

Technique: CGI.

Audio:

  • None for the earlier version.
  • For the later version, a low-pitched humming synth drone is heard.

Availability: Some of the DVDs they distributed having this logo include nature documentaries, family titles like Shrek, Barney and Friends and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and, according to the promo that precedes it, other films from diverse film genres, also including adult titles.

2nd Logo (2010-2011)

Visuals: Over a stock picture of a coral reef with bubble particles moving up, we see various clownfish swimming, along with a weird unidentified green aquatic creature at the right. The clownfish move from the left to the right, getting far away from the screen. Once the clownfish move away, a shark appears swimming and following the fish. Then, a black/yellow fish appears from the left. His eyes pop out in shock and then swims away to the left, and the shark follows it. Then the white text of "video shark" in a comic-style font appears with a waving effect. The text then disappears after a while in the same fashion, before the shark briefly appears ramming into the screen, causing it to transition away into four pieces that move out diagonally. At the end, we see a light green background fade in with the same "video shark" text at the left and a smiling CGI shark at the right. The text "Lo Mejor En" followed by the DVD logo then wipes in vertically. The end screen then fades out after a few seconds.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Tropical-sounding stock music with bubbling sound effects, a rendition of "Charge (Bugle Call)" when the black fish appears, biting and burping sound effects, a voice softly screaming, and a shatter when the screen breaks away. During the end screen, a man muttering gibberish is heard.

Availability: Seen on bootleg DVDs they released during the early 2010s, such as a Barney and Friends compilation DVD.
