Background

Vision Film made its origins in 1980 as a home video distributor as Film Polski Export & Import of Films Ltd.. It was renamed in 1986 as Film Polski Vision and set up a subsidiary a year later as Vision Film Distribution Company. The Film Polski Vision name disappeared in 1994.

1st Logo (1987-1993)

Visuals: On a cloudy sky background, 2 dark grey rectangles fly in from the bottom left and top right respectively, and stop in the middle of the screen, just shy enough from touching each other. The rectangles then swing to the left and right respectively, revealing they are actually 3 grey arrows nested in each other. They also spread apart and reveal a set of grey lines, which flip up to reveal the text "VISION" in a ugly font. The word shines and turns red, before "FILM DISTRIBUTION COMPANY" is wiped in red with a black outline.

Technique: The arrows forming, the name flipping, the color change.

Audio: A synth whoosh is first heard. This is followed by a synth fanfare with 4 hard notes, a brief flourish, then ending with a timpani beat.

Availability: Seen on old Polish home releases from them, such as Puppet Master, The Banker and Hide and Go Shriek.

2nd Logo (1993-1997)

Visuals: On a white background, we see the 3D version of the arrows from the previous logo zooming out and move to the center, similar to the 1985 Warner Home Video logo. The camera pans and the 3D words "VISION" in the same style as the previous logo, but with lines rotate and zoom out while settling in the arrows to the center. The word "FILM DISTRIBUTION COMPANY" slides in below.

Technique: The arrows zooming, the rotating.

Audio: Same as the previous logo.

Availability: Seen on 90s Vision Film Distribution releases.

3rd Logo (1997-Early 2010s?)

Visuals: On a black background, we see blue-colored filmstrips zooming out, while three diamonds zooming out. It later splits itself into arrows, as the filmstrips begin to disappear. The logo flashes, and the word "VISION in the same font as the previous logo zooms in with a light effect. The word "FILM DISTRIBUTION COMPANY" wiping in below.

Variant: In later years, the logo was given an enhanced look.

Technique: The diamonds moving, then turning into arrows.

Audio: A majestic theme.

Availability: Seen on later Vision VHS and early DVD releases from the company. Also seen on The Witcher/Hexer (2001).
