Background: WQLN is a PBS affiliate located in Erie, Pennsylvania. It also serves London, Canada.

1st Logo (1976-1978)

Logo: On a blue background the futuristic black text "WQLN" is seen. Below it is the white text "PUBLIC AFFAIRS PRESENTATION" in italic, seen in two lines. The text then fades out to the sponsor seen on the same font as the white text.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The announcer.

Availability: Taken from Lunch with Ronald Reagan, which can be seen on pbsvideo.wqln.org.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo (1978-1985)

Nicknames: "Sound Waves", "Blue Flash", "The E(e)rie Logo"

Logo: On a dark teal background, light aqua sound waves appear rapidly, shooting to about a quarter-left of the middle section of the screen, forming what appears to be a circle. When the circle is formed, "W", "L", and "N" fade in, in the same color, and a squiggly line is drawn on the circle, making it a "Q". "ERIE", in yellow, wipes in, and finally, the logo sends off a light blue flash and disappears.

FX/SFX: The sound waves appearing, the flash.

Music/Sounds: A low bass Moog synthesizer tune, followed by a laser zap, and three more synth notes.

Availability: No idea where this logo can be found. It's probably extinct.

Editor's Note: The dated animation and synth music can be seen as pretty creepy.

3rd Logo (1985-1996)

Logo: On a black background there's a blue dot near the centre. The dot then moves back quickly to the left while the WQLN logo from before fades in, and goes to draw the line of the "Q", while "ERIE" in blue and "54" in yellow flash in below the right side of the logo.

FX/SFX: The dot moving, forming the line, and the flashes. Quite low-budget but still better than the previous.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Availability: Taken from Under the Influence, which can be seen on pbsvideo.wqln.org.

Editor's Note: None.

4th Logo (1996-2014)

Logo: The WQLN logo slides in below from a black background and the white text "A" and "Presentation" fade in-between.

FX/SFX: Very simple animation.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the show.

Availability: Taken from We Remember When, which can be seen on pbsvideo.wqln.org.

Editor's Note: None.

5th Logo (2014-)

Under its underline is the words "PUBLIC MEDIA". Above the logo is the text "This Program was Produced By" and copyright information is below.

FX/SFX: None.
