Background

Wang Film Productions, now known as WangFilm Animation Studio, is a Taiwanese-American animation company based in Taipei and Los Angeles, co-owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, Brillant Pictures Group and the Taiwanese government. Founded by ex-Hanna-Barbera animator James C.Y. Wang (王中元)/Wang Zhongyuan, Hsu Chih-wei and Lu Kuang-chi started the studio in 1978 as an overseas facility for the U.S. animation outlet Hanna-Barbera. The company made overseas animation work for shows made by Warner Bros. Animation, Walt Disney Television Animation, CINAR, Nelvana, etc. (some works overseas made with cooperation with Cuckoo's Nest and mainland Chinese subsidary Hong Guang). The company's subsidaries include Hong Ying Animation, a Thailand branch know as "Thai Wang Film Productions". The company's name is later renamed, "Wang Animation Studios", and PT Asiana Wang, based in Indonesia.
