Background
This is the production arm of Westward Television.
1st Logo (April 29, 1961-1965)
Logo: This is just the print version of the 1961 ident either on a black background or superimposed on the end credits.
Variant: On one programme, the logo shares the screen with the ATV logo, with "PRODUCTION" shown below the logo.
Technique: None.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Unknown.
2nd Logo (1965-1972)
Logo: A still version of the 1965 ident with the bottom text reading "A WESTWARD PRODUCTION".
Variants:
- Sometimes, the text is stacked.
- In 1971, the background became blue with the start of color television.
Technique: None.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Ultra rare.
- Like many ITV franchises, Westward's programming from this period was wiped out and are rather obscure compared to the bigger names.
- These include We Love Monkton Wyld, Britannia, and The Privileged: The Pawns.
- BFI Player may have a few of the channel's programmes intact such as the latter.
3rd Logo (1972-December 31, 1981)
Logo: On a blue background, the ship from the 1972 ident, now orange, is above the stacked text "A WESTWARD PRODUCTION" and a copyright stamp.
Variants:
- The text may read "A WESTWARD PRESENTATION" instead. Plus, "in Colour" may also be seen underneath.
- Later on, a copyright with Roman numerals appeared below instead.
- On one programme, the logo is position on the bottom left with "Independent Television" and "For Schools and Colleges" on top and to the right of the symbol respectively.
Technique: None.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme or none.
Availability: Ultra rare.
- Like before, Westward's lineup is not well known and are difficult to find due to their obscurity and wiping over the past several decades.
- It is so far only known to appear on early series of One Per Cent of Us.
