Background
The Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation (callsign JOIX-DTV) signed on August 28, 1958, by a number of investors, including the Yomiuri Shimbun, who spearheaded the creation of Japan's first commercial television station, the Tokyo-based Nippon Television five years prior. Based in Osaka, YTV serves as the NNN/NNS affiliate for the Kansai region and is one of the dual network's major contributors (alongside NTV), producing and/or distributing a number of programs.
