Background

MTV Original TV Movies was the made-for-TV movie division of MTV. It was founded in 1999 and produced original films for the channel before being folded into the wider MTV television unit around 2002.

1st Logo (December 1, 2000)

Visuals: On a white background, a grid of dark blue circles appears row by row. One of them turns white and appears with the MTV logo, another becomes green and fades in with the word "original", and the circle next to it has the word "TV" flicker in. The spaced out green text "movies" fades in and moves to cover the bottom row of circles.

Technique: 2D digital animation (presumably made in Adobe Flash).

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Only seen at the start of the original MTV broadcast of Love Song. On said title's VHS release and Lifetime prints, this is plastered by the 1995 Paramount Pictures logo. However, a recent Polish broadcast on CBS Europa retained it.

2nd Logo (May 8, 2001-March 7, 2004)

Visuals: On a green background, a trail of blue circles appear one by one around the screen, flashing glimpses of the 1st logo. The circles eventually form the full logo.

Technique: 2D digital animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: First appeared on Carmen: A Hip Hopera; it made its final appearance on Monster Island.
