AVID:Requests for Comment/Proposed guidelines for controversial, sexual and graphic content

This proposal is partially in response to the Miraheze content policy, and partially for transparency. I really hope that I do not screw up with this, because I have checked that it is orientated towards context and transparency, rather than unreasonable censorship.

Proposed guidelines for controversial, sexual and graphic content
Content guidelines
Logos with sexual and graphic content, rapidly-flashing elements, and jump scares, must be declared with the {{NSFW|reason=[reason]}}
template at the top of the article. According to the MDN, a rapidly-flashing element flashes at least three times per second.
- Logos with sexual and graphic content must be hidden behind spoilers, to follow Miraheze's content policy.
- Logos with rapidly-flashing elements (such as SuperVideo) and jump scares should list timestamp range above the video, where such content occurs.
Logos with controversial content (such as Minstrel Entertainments) should be contextualised, preferably in the lead. For example, the minstrel show used to be popular until the mid-20th century.
NSFW banner changes
I propose to change the current {{NSFW}} banner, because the Parental Advisory label appears US- and UK-centric. The revised banner is based on the guidance banner on a BBC News video about sexist language, and I think it should be easier to recognise than the Parental Advisory label. The wording of the revised infobox is provisional and may be refined at implementation.
- For articles about logos with sexual or graphic content
This article covers logos that contain [sexual/graphic content]. They are hidden behind spoilers to follow Miraheze's content policy. |
- For articles about logos with jump scares or rapidly-flashing elements
This article covers logos that contain [jump scares/rapidly-flashing elements]. Editors should list the timestamps, above videos where such content occurs. |
There is no banner for controversial content, because what counts as offensive depends on the context.
Support
- Support I agree that our NSFW template needs an update. Your proposal for this looks great. Logohub (talk) 15:33, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

This is the definitive design for the NSFW template in my honest opinion, since the Parental Advisory label is kind of overused.
Additionally, for logos which are nothing but flashing (i.e. Ear Booker Productions), we should put in something like "Throughout the entire logo." rather than a timestamp.
