AVR Home Entertainment

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (1980s)

Visuals: A large angular "V" is seen in the center of the screen. After a second, parts of a "A" and a "R", done in the same angled set-up, appear to the left and right of it respectively, followed by "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" appearing below. 13 thin lines appear one-by-one behind the "AVR" before a large upside-down red triangle fills in the "V". Everything except the triangle are white.

Technique: Cutting effects.

Audio: A funky lo-fi synth beat. After the logo is formed, an bored-sounding male announcer says "AVR Home Entertainment. The moving force in video today!".

Availability: Seen on several British VHS tapes of B-movies from them, like A Time For Dying, Daredevil Commando, and The Warrior. Also seen on a Varus Video print of House On Straw Hill.

2nd Logo (1980s-1990s)

Visuals: A red upside-down triangle drops down from the top of the screen, rotating around as the off-white letters "AVR" fly in from the left, top, and right side of the screen and settle at the top of the triangle, forming the new logo. The logo is originally set at a right facing angle, but then revolves around counterclockwise to face the front of the screen, before eventually splitting off-screen. The letters slide away from each other vertically, while the triangle flies down and spins around.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The tail end portion of "Spectacular 2" by Jan Pulsford, which is a track from the Atmosphere library.

Availability: Seen on tapes like Hey, Goodlooking, Last Witness, Thirsty Dead, The Game, The Scaremaker and The Strangeness, among others.
