Background

Asahi Broadcasting rebranded ABC-OTV to ABC Television on June 1959 with its callsign being rebranded to JONR-TV. On April 1, 2018, ABC's radio and television broadcasting divisions were spun off into two subsidiaries, with Asahi Radio Broadcasting Corporation taking over the radio business, and Asahi Television Broadcasting Corporation taking over the television business. Because of this, the callsigns were rebranded to JOAY-DTV.

1st Logo (March 1959-March 30, 1975)

Visuals: Superimposed on the show's opening and/or ending sequence is the 1953 ABC wordmark, consisting of the words "朝日放送" in a calligraphy-style font, usually in white.

Technique: A superimposed hand-painted graphic.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: First seen on later episodes of Yarikuri apāto. However, footage from that show has yet to be found.

2nd Logo (March 31, 1975-March 31, 1989)

Visuals: Superimposed on the show's opening and/or ending sequence is the 1970 ABC wordmark, consisting of the words "朝日放送" in a futuristic font, usually in white.

Technique: A superimposed hand-painted or digital graphic.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: First seen on ABC's productions from that period, such as Maya the Bee among others.

3rd Logo (April 1, 1989-December 31, 2007)

Visuals: Superimposed on the show's opening and/or ending sequence is the 1989 ABC symbol, consisting of the words "ABC" in bolded with an outline in the right, usually in white.

Technique: A superimposed hand-painted or digital graphic.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: First seen on Doyōda eburibadi!.

4th Logo (January 1, 2008-)

Visuals: Superimposed on the show's opening and/or ending sequence is the 2008 ABC symbol, consisting of the words "ABC" inside of a rectangle with a line on the right usually in white or its usual color.

Variants:

  • During ABC's 60th anniversary in 2011, the rectangle was extended to add the words "60th Annuversary", this was first seen on later episodes of HeartCatch Pretty Cure.
  • Around 2018, the word "TV" was added to the right of the rectangle, this was first seen on later episodes of Hug! Pretty Cure.

Audio: The opening or ending theme of the show.

Availability: First seen on ABC's productions from that period onwards, such as later episodes of Yes! Pretty Cure 5.
