Background

Asahi Broadcasting rebranded ABC-OTV to ABC Television on June 1959 with its callsign being rebranded to JONR-TV. On April 1, 2018, ABC's radio and television broadcasting divisions were spun off into two subsidiaries, with Asahi Radio Broadcasting Corporation taking over the radio business, and Asahi Television Broadcasting Corporation taking over the television business. Because of this, the callsigns were rebranded to JOAY-DTV.
