BMA Films was established as part of the BMA Investment Group in 1998 by Steven Lo, who also made Regal Films.
1st Logo (1999)
Logo: On a beige background, the "BMA" emerges from it and zooms back. It then changes to red and an underline appears below it. A quick-moving red streak then brings up the Chinese and English names. More Chinese text then fades in below.
FX/SFX: The BMA emerging and changing color, the streak moving and bringing up the names, the Chinese text fading in.
Music/Sounds: A quiet swish, followed by a very high-pitched screech, that sounds like an eagle's cry, a sword clashing each other, or similar to the sound when using the Limit Break in Final Fantasy VIII.
Availability: May be seen on BMA movies during 1999, such as The Lord of Amusement and Hak do fung wan ji sau chuk wong.
Editor's Note: The silence being suddenly and jarringly interrupted by the screech and the red color scheme may be off-putting to some, but it's mostly harmless.
2nd Logo (2000-2001)
Logo: We see various copies of "BMA" rotating on circles on a black/yellow gradient background with moving red lens flares. Transparent big copies of another "BMA" zoom out and rotate, as later everything else turns to black and two semi-circular shapes appear fading in and rotating in between the text. Once everything takes place, a light comes from a corner of the logo and brings up a red sphere with a circular silver border. The Chinese name, and then the English one fade in.
FX/SFX: The appearance of the text and logo, the appearance of the circle, the company name appearing.
Music/Sounds: Deep computerized sounds.
Availability: Rare. It appears on Mei you ni mei you wo and Oi ching bak min bau.
Editor's Note: A major improvementover the original logo, though the beginning looks like it's a rip-off of the Sky One ident from 1993.
3rd Logo (2006)
Logo: On a white background, the red lowercase letters b, m and a zoom out and spin. They join together to make the word, face us and zoom back. A red rounded rectangle quickly moves in below the letters. "motion pictures limited" spins in from the rectangle, and the Chinese letters (with BMA before them) also spin in below.
FX/SFX: Simple animation.
Music/Sounds: A quiet ethereal theme.
Availability: Extremely rare. It appears on Ngor yiu sing ming and Tin heng tse.
Editor's Note: None.
