Background

BigSky Interactive was an American video game developer founded in 2002 by several former members of the American arm of Kalisto Entertainment, after it filed for bankruptcy in April 2002. The company was based in Round Rock, Texas. BigSky landed a deal with THQ and produced two games based on Nickelodeon properties; the GameCube and PlayStation 2 version of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman. Corporate politics and trouble they encountered during the development of the latter title led to BigSky getting blacklisted by THQ, and ultimately shutting down due to financial issues. While a game breaking glitch in the PS2 port of RotFD has been attributed to BigSky's closure, it wasn't considered a major factor. You can find out more about BigSky's history in this video.

(September 25, 2002-March 28, 2003)
