Background
CTVglobemedia was the new name for Bell Globemedia when it acquired CHUM Limited in 2007. On April 1, 2011, Bell Canada acquired CTVglobemedia for $1.3 billion and renamed it to Bell Media; this was approved by the CRTC after BCE agreed to provide a $245 million benefits package for the Canadian broadcasting system, more than $140 million of which would be allocated to create new Canadian television and radio programming.
Logo (January 1, 2007-March 31, 2011)
Visuals: On a black background, many multicolored light streaks surge through the middle of the screen, creating a burst of light which then turns the background white. The words "CTVglobemedia" in red, blue and green color and Times New Roman font appear in the middle, slowly zooming in. Red, blue, and green light streaks are seen at the bottom, slowly swirling around.
Variants:
- Originally, there were no light streaks at the end of the logo.
- A short version of this logo exists.
- Sometimes, a copyright stamp is seen below.
- This logo can be seen in 4:3 and 16:9.
- On a CTV Calgary News at Noon broadcast, there is a longer version where the logo freezes for 13 seconds at the end, then fades out.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A rising engine-like sound followed by three waterdrop ding sounds. Occasionally, the end theme of the program was used.
Audio Variant: One episode of eTalk Daily from 2007 had the sounds low-pitched.
Availability: Seen at the end of local newscasts and other programming, such as Video on Trial, SportsCentre, and Canada AM.
