Background

The Canadian Television Fund was a non-profit organization that supports production and broadcast of Canadian television programs. Founded in 1998, their objectives are to support creation and broadcast by the Department of Canadian Heritage. Other objectives includes allocating one-third of its resources to French-programming and the other two-third to English-programming, providing development funds, and make it necessary for market to be progressed.

On April 1, 2010, the Canadian Television Fund was merged with the Canada New Media Fund and reformed as the Canadian Media Fund (known today as Canada Media Fund). No logo was used until 2000, instead being represented by in-credit text.

Logo (2000?-April 1, 2010)

Visuals: A picture of a maple seed is seen tilted to the left, with the red text "Canadian Television Fund" at the bottom of its stem on the right. The text "Produced with the participation of the" is seen over it and "created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian cable industry" is seen underneath.

Variants:

  • Starting in 2007, the seed is changed into a drawn vector version and the French translation is added below the English name.
  • Sometimes, the logo is inside a white box.
  • On YAA! To The MAX, the logo is shown inside a red square, with the maple seed centered and the text stacked in front of it, colored white.
  • A rare promo reel for this organization exists.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the show.

Audio Variant: The promo reel features strange mystical-like instruments of woodwinds, strings, and piano notes at the start and end.

Availability: Seen at the end of almost every television production during the time frame, although most just used in-credit text until later in the decade. It first made its on-screen appearance on S3 episodes of Radio Active.
