Background

This was the home video division of the Japanese toy company Takara that released B-movies on VHS in Japan.

(1985-1992)

Logo: On a black background, we see a shirtless man howling or screaming while we zoom into his face. The word "CAUTION" (in pinkish red, with the "C" looking like a serpent that goes under the stylized "A" and "U") appears, with the byline "films that break the mold!" (also in pinkish red) appearing below it. The Japanese words "株式会社タカラ映像事業部" (A Film Division of the Takara Company) fade in on the bottom right corner of the screen.

Variant: In the final years of operation, there is an alternative version where the word "CAUTION" in red spins quickly on a black background. After that, the words "films that break the mold!" in white, wipe in from left to right below the word "CAUTION". After a bit, the logo flips downward.

Technique: Mostly live action.

Music/Sounds: The man howling or screaming (the exact howl or scream varies from tape to tape), and then a loud timpani drum hit when the logo appears. The variant uses only the timpani sound.

Availability: Very rare. Seen on Japanese B-movie VHS tapes such as Meet the Feebles, Shocking Dark, The Runner, Hammerhead, The Blood of Others, and A Time to Die.

Legacy: Many will be unnerved by the nonsensical subject matter and overall absurdness. The timpani hit may also startle a few. Those who are used to it will have less of a problem, and some may love its overall weirdness and/or find it absolutely hilarious. Also, as this logo appears on several tapes, more variants of the logo may exist.
