Background

This is the second channel of ORTF (initially RTF Télévision 2 under the ownership of RTF) after said channel rebranded RTF and its other channels. On 1 October 1967, the channel switched to colour using the SECAM system, making it the first colour television channel in France. In 1974, the company renamed itself to Antenne 2.

1st Logo (25 July 1964-1 October 1967)

Logo: Same as the RTF 2 logo, except the ORTF logo with a "2" above replaces "RTF Télévision 2". The two bars then reveal the ORTF logo against the black background at the end, along with "Television" wiping in underneath.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: Same as the RTF 2 logo.

2nd Logo (1967-1972)

Logo: Same as before, except that the top curtain is now orange, the bottom curtain is yellow and the arrows are blue to signify their shift into color broadcasting.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Music/Sounds Variant: Another variant with café/elevator-like music exists.

3rd Logo (31 January 1972-1975)

Logo: Three circles in red, green and blue) fuse into each other and form the ORTF logo. It then gets embedded in multiple colorful petals. Then we see gaping holes moving out, creating color illusions. Then we see colorful shapes forming patterns around a circle, with a red circle zooming in on its center. After that, we see green ovals and violet circles appearing on a white circle in the center of a red background. Ultimately, the text

COULEUR

appears on the center of the pattern.

Technique: Motion-controlled animation.

Music/Sounds: Same as the first logo, but a bit louder.

Availability: This ident was resurrected in 2017 commercial jingles for France 2, celebrating its 35th anniversary.
