Background

This is Don Mischer's vanity card. It was founded in the late 1970s, and didn't use a logo until 1985.

1st Logo (1985-2000's)

Visuals: Over a blue background, the logo starts with this text "DON MISCHER PRODUCTIONS" underlined, and in an organic font. The background then flashes to white.

Variants:

  • In the logo's early years, the background would either be green or red.
  • "In association with" may appear above or below the company name.
  • Sometimes, a copyright date appears below.
  • A still version exists.
  • On Barbara Mandrell's Christmas: A Family Reunion, the red background version has the text "DON MISCHER" and the word "PRODUCTIONS" in spaced-out letters with a line separating the two words.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme of the show. NBC and CBS airings used a generic theme starting in 1994, while ABC airings used a generic theme starting in 1998.

Availability: The standard blue background version appeared on the 1990 CBS special The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson, the TV special Motown Returns to the Apollo, the 1992 CBS and ITV special The Grand Opening of Euro Disney, and the 1991-92 short-lived NBC series The Adventures of Mark & Brian. The red background version was seen on the 1985 NBC Let's All Be There Celebrity Special and Nell Carter: Never Too Old to Be Dream. The green background version appeared on Perry Como's Christmas in Hawaii.

2nd Logo (2000's-2014)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a video wall consisting of video clips, as well as red, yellow and blue rectangles, which slide on the screen. The border shines, and the text "don mischer productions" fade in on the screen as the clips disappear.

Technique: Computer animation by Scott Williams at New Wave Entertainment.

Audio: None or the ending theme.

Availability: It was seen on TV specials, including The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards and Fox 25th Anniversary Special.

3rd Logo (2015-2016)
