Draft:CLG Wiki

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Dedicated to The AVID Team.

Background

In 2007, the CLG Wiki was created on Wetpaint (later WikiFoundry) by Yahoo Closing Logos Group member Silversword55, originally as an alternative to "KRS Logos", an early attempt to archive and describe logos created by Kris Starring.

On May 4, 2020, due to concern of WikiFoundry's overreliance on the now-deprecated Adobe Flash and then-ongoing disputes with WikiFoundry owner Travis, the CLG Wiki moved to Miraheze.

Following the demotion of the site's former management team due to an incident on September 9, 2022, and after overwhelming consensus, the wiki was renamed the Audiovisual Identity Database on September 27, 2022.

1st Logo (2009)

Visuals: On a black background, the old CLG logo appears, consisting of ''CLG'' in blue and ''WIKI'' in a cartoonish gray font slowly zooming out while light beams come out of it.

Technique: 2D animation, done in Vegas Pro/Movie Studio.

Audio: The music from the promo.

Availability: Only appeared on promos at the time.

2nd Logo (Early 2010)

Visuals: Over a sunset is a cameraman recording. The camera moves towards the camera lens and into a tunnel. The tunnel becomes a movie theater. The logo above zooms in to the center of the screen. The camera passes behind it as the logo freezes in place, and it shines. While this happens, "PRESENTS" appears in white along with the copyright text below. A multicolored light appears and disappears when the logo stops glowing. Then it fades to black.

Variants:

  • A shorter version with the website's then-current URL exists.

Technique: Live action and 2D flash animation.

Audio: An epic orchestral theme.

Availability: Used on promos from early-2010.

3rd Logo (Fall 2010-2014)

Visuals: An improved version of the previous logo, with spotlights added at the beginning, replacing the zoom in on the lens. The CLG Wiki logo from the previous two is now in 3D. A light appears from behind when the logo is placed in position. This glows a little and disappears and the logo fades.

Variant:

  • There is a shorter version that only shows the light from behind shining.
  • There's a prototype version with another different scene with three cameramen and the lens animation of the previous logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An news-like theme.

Audio Variants:

  • The short version has the opening theme or is silent.
  • The prototype version has the previous logo's music.

Availability: Only appeared on promos at the time.

4th Logo ("5th Anniversary", 2012)

Visuals: On a black background, the Fandom version of the 2009 logo zooms out to reveal a hallway, which zooms out to reveal shines from starts of different logos. It then zooms out to reveal a midnight sky with a black silhouette of an outside environment. The CLG Wiki logo at the time appears in another silhouette as "PRESENTS" fades in. The logo sparkles.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A majestic fanfare.

Availability: Only seen on a 5th anniversary promo.
