Background

KSBW is a dual NBC/ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Salinas, California, United States and serving the Monterey Bay area. The station is owned by the Hearst Television subsidiary of Hearst Communications.

1st ID (1975-1976)

center|350px ID: On a black background, we see the NBC abstract N with "ksbw-tv" to the right of it. Under it is "Salinas-Monterey".

FX/SFX: TBA

Music/Sounds: TBA

Availability: Extinct. The only known remains of this ID comes from a Logopedia page.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd ID (1979-1986)

ID: Both versions are based on NBC's Proud as a Peacock campaign:

  • On a space background, "KSBW-TV 8" appears zooming in letter-by-letter with a yellow trailing effect. Then the newly redesigned NBC peacock appears and spreads its wings over the text, which fades out.
  • "KSBW-TV" in white slides in from the left, and "8" alongside "Salinas/Monterey" slides in from the right. The text shifts down as the peacock appears and spreads its wings. "WE'RE PROUD" wipes in with a blue sparkle effect below.

FX/SFX: The text appearing, the peacock forming.

Music/Sounds: A variant of the Proud as a Peacock jingle. The first version has the chorus singing "KCVB-TV 8!" The second has the chorus singing "TV 8, Proud as a Peacock!".

Availability: Extinct. Check your tapes for this.
