Background
The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP; English: Association of Philippine Broadcasters) is a non-profit and non-government organization that represents radio and television broadcasters in the Philippines. It was established on April 27, 1973 with 19 founding members, but soon expanded in a few months to include virtually all radio and television broadcast stations within the country. Initially, the KBP worked with the national government in formulating and implementing policies for the development of Philippine broadcast media. After the lifting of martial law in 1981, the KBP established its own system of self-regulation and standards for radio and television stations, and since 1990, the KBP has annually held the Golden Dove Awards to honor broadcast practitioners for their contributions and achievements in the broadcast industry. As a national association of broadcasters, the KBP is an associate member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
