The Brothers Grunt (1994-1995)

ID: We see the characters of The Brothers Grunt series, making strange faces, all while superimposed on a black background. Then, a green MTV logo appears and “splashes” onto a green and red watercolor-like background.

Technique: 2D animation by Danny Antonucci.

Music/Sounds: The characters squealing, and a very quiet shriek, a splashing noise, an a voice going “Whew!”.

Availability: Extinct.

Legacy: This bumper might be considered creepy, as this was based off a short-lived show that had the same name as the bumper. To this day, the show and bumper is still criticized, due to it’s grotesque imagery.

ID: We see a plate of food. He lifts some peas with a fork, but stops as we hear a nose blowing. The camera pans to the server and the fork is heard being dropped. He says, "Oh look...made an MTV logo. Wanna see?" The server, disgusted, screams, "Well, I didn't want to show it to you anyway!", and runs off.
