Background

Mokép Video is a Hungarian video distributor that releases action and horror films.

1st Logo (1990s)

Visuals: The sequence starts with a computer-generated setting showing a VHS tape inserting itself into a VCR. The VCR is placed on a TV table shelf below a CRT. Once the VHS is inserted, the camera pans up towards the TV, now playing static. It then shows a partly cloudy midday sky, to which a gold ring with "Mokép Video" inside zooms out and turns to face the audience as the camera zooms closer to the TV screen. The M and V are both connected to the ring.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synthesized heroic fanfare.

Availability: Found on VHSes distributed in Hungary, such as The Last Shark.

2nd Logo (2000s-)

Visuals: There is a trail of the Mokep logo coming from a blue planet on a cloudy, blue sky while the sea is placed below. After a few seconds, the planet goes down as the logo puts itself on the trail.

Variant: A later variant updates the graphics and gives the logo a more sinister look. Said variant does not include the trail and the logo just fades in to the viewer, with the warnings following.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A peaceful violin theme with birds chirping. Sampled from "Rites" by Jan Garbarek.

Availability: Unknown. [Examples?]
