Background

The Northeast Film Studio was one of the first film studios established in the northeast part of China and the communist party's first full-function studio. The studio was formed during Japan's unconditional surrender in August 1945 when the Soviet Red Army helped the Chinese communists take over Manchukuo Film Association, where they relocated said studio to Hegang, the location of its first establishment. Its production began on 1947, primarily focusing on documentary and news films.

Due to the War of Liberation that took place in 1949, the company had to forcefully move to Changchun Film Studio, and by 1955, the company technically longer exists.

1st Logo (January 2, 1949-December 1954)

Visuals: On a cloudy background, a worker-peasant-soldier (工农兵, gongnong bing) type statue rotates from the right. After a few seconds, the company name in Mandarin:

中央電影局
東北電影製片厰
攝製

fades in front of the statue. This concept is also used in the first Beijing Film Studio and Shanghai Film Studio logos.

Variants:

  • In Daughters of China, Zhao Yiman, Shajiadian Grain Station, and Boundless Potential, "中央電影局" is removed.
  • On Bumper Harvest and A Virtuous Husband’s Younger Sister, a view of Beijing scenery is added behind the logo.

Technique: Model work and chroma-key effects.

Audio: A patriotic brass fanfare also used in the aforementioned Shanghai Film Studio logo. There were instances where a higher-quality version was used.

Audio Variant: Later films use the opening theme of the film.

Availability: Was seen in various pre-1954 films from the company; it debuted in Daughters of China, and was known to last appear in Men Go to the High and Boundless Potential.

2nd Logo (February 1, 1949)

Visuals:
