Revision as of 22:37, 5 August 2021 by imported>LogoLover2000 (Added photo, fixed grammar issues in the logo description, fleshed out the music and sound section and expanded the availability section. And yes, there were indeed only five games under the Freestyle label)

Background

Freestyle was a very short-lived division of EA Sports, which would have focused on casual/arcade-type casual sports titles, a la the extreme sports line EA Sports BIG. Only five games were released under the Freestyle banner before it was quietly retired.

1st (and only) Logo (2008-2009)

Logo: On a blue background, the EA HD logo takes place. After done, EA moves a bit right and is rounded with a glowing circle. Everything else clears, but SPORTS appears below inside the circle. The EA Sports logo immediately explodes into the solid white circle with blue edges and letters, which glows and flips. It then zooms into the lower part of the screen, and the stylised word "freestyle" appears, with each letter connected to it. The EA Sports byline is very small below the logo.

Variants:

  • On FaceBreaker, after the logo is complete, Brick (one of the boxers in the game) comes and punches the logo, shattering it.
  • On Wii titles by the company, the EA HD logo is cut out.
  • On 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, the background is orange, and the EA HD animation is cut out.

FX/SFX: The EA HD logo appearing, the EA Sports circle flipping, the "freestyle" logo appearing.

Music/Sounds: Several whirling sounds. The FaceBreaker variant has Brick shouting "EA Sports!" then Ice (another boxer from the game) saying "Freestyle.", as well as Brick grunting, and a glass shattering sound.

Availability: Appears on FaceBreaker for Xbox 360 and PS3, its Wii port FaceBreaker K.O. Party, Celebrity Sports Showdown for the Wii, NASCAR Kart Racing for the Wii, and on 3 on 3 NHL Arcade. The latter game has since been delisted from the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live stores, but it is available as a demo on the PS3 versions of NHL 11 and NHL 12, so it may still be on there.
