Background

FMOD is a proprietary sound effects engine for video games and applications, developed by Firelight Technologies on March 6, 1995. This engine is able to play and mix sounds of diverse formats on many operating systems and video game consoles.



1st Logo (October 24, 2006)

Visuals: Over a background of a blue-tinted speaker, there is the word "fmod". Below, there is the text "music & sound effects system", with a shadow behind, inside a transparent blue abstract shape.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: The logo is only seen on Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island.

2nd Logo (September 11, 2008?-2012)

Visuals: A blue gradient circle, resembling a speaker, with a white outline is shown on the left of the same "fmod" wordmark from before. Below it is the text "Music & Soundeffects System".

Variants:

  • It usually shares the screen with other logos.
  • On LittleBigPlanet, the orange-tinted logo is on an orange sticky note between the Testology and Bink Video logos on their yellow sticky notes, all pasted on a wooden desk with tape. Two orange sticky notes can also be seen above. Red butterflies are then seen flying through them after a few seconds.
  • On Planet 51: The Game for Wii, the logo is enclosed on a black rectangle, with its copyright notice on the right.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on games made with this engine at the time, such as the PS3 video games of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, and Split/Second.

3rd Logo (August 28, 2012?-)

Visuals: Essentially just the word "fmod" in an abstract font.

Variants:

  • On Double Dragon Neon, the logo is on a white rounded rectangle.
  • On Quake Champions, the logo is on a blue gradient rounded rectangle.
  • The logo mostly shares the screen with other logos.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on games made with this engine from the time period, such as Damage Inc: Pacific Squadron WWII and WRC 5.
