Background

Form Holdings Limited is a publisher, retailer, and distributor of music, music videos, and direct-to-video programmes, headquartered in Singapore with offices in Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. It was founded by Ang Choon Beng. The company is known for their educational programmes made in the 1990s, most notably the ABC English for Children series. As of 2023, only the Malaysian offices based in Kuala Lumpur are still in operation. Form Holdings Limited has since been repurposed as a holding company for a membrane manufacturer.

1st Logo (1992)

Visuals: On a sky background with moving clouds, a rainbow with multiple curves forms from the top right to the bottom left of the screen. Multiple colored musical notes move down the rainbow, and a yellow bird wearing headphones flies in from the top right of the screen and moves around the rainbow. After the bird flies around near the bottom left of the screen, the clouds settle, and the Form logo (an abstract pink "F" inside a white rounded square with a pink border, with a white vinyl record around the two horizontal lines of the "F", and small Chinese text reading "風格" next to the bottom of the letter) fades in, initially being surrounded by the bird. The bird flies back to the top right of the screen as the logo zooms in and slightly moves rightwards, as the background turns white. The following text then wipes in near the bottom of the screen:

FORM MUSIC PUBLICATION PTE LTD
風格音樂出版有限公司

Additional text, reading "(凡來教育制作组)" is located under the last three characters of the bigger Chinese text.

Technique: Limited cel animation, wiping effects, and possible chroma-keyed model work for the Form logo zooming in.

Audio: A sixteen-note synth tune, followed by a rendition of the first twenty-four notes of the Chinese children's song "Good Morning Teacher", with the last three notes being echoed. A three-note trumpet tune is then played, followed by a synth-generated chine which ascends in pitch.

Availability: Only known to have appeared on the original VHS release of the first volume of ABC English for Children.

2nd Logo (1993-2017?)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background with cartoony moving clouds, a rainbow forms from the bottom left to the top right of the screen. The bird from before flies in from the right of the screen and chirps out a yellow glowing quaver, followed by a beamed pink one, another normal quaver in green, and finally a red beamed and blue normal quaver, from the top to the left end of the rainbow respectively. The bird then flies to the right of the screen and pulls the Form logo (with its name in English) with a blue border into the screen with its mouth. The bird then flies away to the right of the screen, and the background turns white, leaving behind the logo. The logo moves to the left as it moves to the middle of the Y-axis, and the background slightly darkens as the following text in black wipes in below:

FORM MUSIC PUBLICATION PTE LTD
風格音樂出版有限公司

Trivia: If you look closely at the bottom right of the screen at the end of the sequence, you can see part of the handwritten letters "CT". This is only present in the original version.

Variants:

  • At the end of releases, like At The Zoo, the logo fades in horizontally arranged, along with the Form logo being in Chinese, the Chinese and English text being swapped, and the text "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED" is seen beneath "FORM MUSIC PUBLICATION PTE LTD", bordered between 2 lines.
  • On Malaysian releases from 2007 until 2011, after the Form logo moves to its position, the footage freezes, and the following text fades and zooms in, reading:
    FORM RECORDS (M) SDN. BHD.
    風格唱片(馬)有限公司
All of the text is in 3D. Additionally, on releases from the time published under the Form Kidz label, the text "( FORM KIDZ PTE. LTD. )" fades in under the text.
  • On Malaysian releases from 2011 onward, after the Form logo moves to its position, the footage cuts to a still image with the Chinese version of the logo at the left of the screen, with the following text next to it:
    風格唱片(馬)有限公司
    Form Records (M) Sdn. Bhd.

Technique: Cel animation and wiping effects, along with CGI and still computer graphics for the later Malaysian variants.

Audio: A happy-themed generic jingle, accompanied by bird chirping sounds.

Audio Variant: On Malaysian releases starting in 2007, as well as earlier titles, the theme from the previous logo is used instead.

Availability: Seen on releases from the company of the time, such as ABC English for Children, Children's Songs, At the Zoo, At the Bird Park, Ten Brothers, Enhance Your IQ, Three Little Pigs, What a Wonderful Word, Kiddiesongs, and Mental Arithmetic. It's also on the reissues of the first volume of ABC English for Children.

3rd Logo (January 18, 1999)

Visuals: On a black background, a black paper sheet with the Chinese Form Records logo on it flips in from the top left of the screen, leaving trails for a brief time. The footage then plays in reverse.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on 童欣 經濟大風颱.

4th Logo (2008)

Visuals: On a white background is the Chinese version of the Form logo from before near the top left of the screen. The following text then wipes in below with a shadow:
FORM RECORDS (M) SDN. BHD.
風格唱片(馬)有限公司
Then, two yellow circles with the letters "P" and "C" on them, along with text reading "FILMWORK 2008", which is next to them, wipe in under the company's English and Chinese names in the opposite direction.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A piano tune, along with a glitter sound effect at the end.

Availability: Seen on 神州之旅.

5th Logo (2008-2017?)

Visuals: On a black/white background, split horizontally across the middle, the disc from the Form logo spins in from the right of the screen, within the top white half of the background, to just off-center near the top of the screen. As the bottom half of the screen turns white, the pink abstract "F" of the logo zooms in and makes the disc settle around it, while the company names from before wipe in under the logo. The Chinese text used in the logo then zooms from the top of the screen and settles at its usual position of the logo.

Variants:

  • During its first few years of usage, the text "P & C Filmwork 2008/2009" appear under the Chinese company name, as the "P" and "C" circles wipe in beside it.
  • On 福建金曲集, the text "P & C Filmwork 2011" pops in under the logo starting from its right point.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: Swooshing sounds are first played as the disc rotates to its position. The sounds are then followed by the audio from before.

Availability: Seen on their releases from the era, such as 醉情歌后2 and 福建金曲集.
