http://www.wikifoundrycentral.com/ "Hello all. The WikiFoundry software as we know it will be decommissioned on June 1st. I don't think this comes as as a surprise to many, especially after Flash was decommissioned recently. A number of bigger wikis will be moved to either WordPress or Mediawiki. The NCIS wiki recently was moved to Wordpress. If you're interested in having your site transitioned to Mediawiki or WordPress, I'll review it on a case-by-case basis. Email [WikiFoundry's email] with the subject "Migration request" with your wiki's URL. Thank you for all of your support over the years, I've tried my best to keep the platform up and running since acquiring it in 2013 but obviously did not meet the expectations of many. Why don't I just fix it? Well, WikiFoundry is a behemoth of a platform. For 8 years I've been patching it to keep it running and the ad revenue just no longer supports the effort required to keep it going. The software is Java/Tomcat-based and has many version-specific dependencies on programs like Apache Tomcat that are no longer supported. The Java API component is 110,386 lines of code split across 1,551 files. The Java Web component is 18,771 lines across 231 files.... you see where I'm going with this. It's a losing effort, and it's time to move on. All of your data will be available until June 1st, so there are 3 months to transition your content. If you have any questions or concerns, the best thing to do is email me - [travis's email] Thank you for your support over the years." |

So it's only a few months until WF is no more... And what will happen to Travis' MediaWiki site? |
Report post

I believe that will remain up as that is hosted separately to WF |

I knew that the death of Flash would be the death of WF. I'm grateful we got out of that platform before we lost CLG Wiki. I still think this was the best decision we ever made. |

I'm grateful we got out of that platform before we lost CLG Wiki. I still think this was the best decision we ever made. You're not the only one. I switched my own personal wiki from Wikifoundry to MediaWiki before Flash died. And honestly, MediaWiki is the better choice on wikis. |

I can see why its shutting down, with the numerous flaws. What i also want to know is if the wikis that are using WF also shuts down, including the original CLGW. If that ever happens, we may get some pages (especially images) to be lost. That'll be a no-no problem for us. |

"If you're interested in having your site transitioned to Mediawiki or WordPress, I'll review it on a case-by-case basis. Email [WikiFoundry's email] with the subject "Migration request" with your wiki's URL." lmao I love how he's still unnecessarily micromanaging to the very end. Great work, Travis! This failure is 100% on you, pal. Side note: With the site going down in four days, do we need to archive or transfer anything? |

Man, a lot of memories were on the old wiki |

Tried opening the site now, it doesn't work anymore. Guess that's the end of WF. Made a lot of memories there, so I guess it's kind of bittersweet. |

I expected Wikifoundry to shut down on April of this year, but I was wrong. Plus, Travis is a bad owner of the site, and I expected the site to shut down this year. The message reads: "WikiFoundry was a wiki-based platform that allowed Internet users to create, collaborate and publish their content free of charge. We decommissioned the main platform on June 1, 2021. If you are interested in seeing what some of the old wikis looked like there are a few that were preserved, such as Soloholics and DreamLogos. A few key wikis were migrated to Wordpress and Mediawiki, such as Closing Logos, James Bond Wiki, The Celtic Wiki, Zombie Prep Wiki, Partick Thistle History and NCIS Squadroom. If you need to contact us, we can be reached at [email protected]." |

RIP. Had memories from the CLG Wikifoundry. |

Wellp, that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess. Good riddance. You know, Travis *could've* brought back some form of userbase with the MediaWiki conversion, but the implementation of that was so botched you couldn't even SIGN UP if you wanted. The blame is entirely on him. Gonna miss the WF wiki though, even with all of the bugs I still had a bunch of memories on the site (the Pinball on MTS, fact-checking SM-O, that eBay thread among other things). Really glad we moved to a competent wiki hosting service that doesn't look like it hadn't been updated since 2005 though, the wiki has never looked better |

I miss the Wikifoundry version of this wiki when I saw it in 2009 while searching for "logos wiki" on Google, Travis is such a psycho. |
