I used Windows 10's game bar recorder (which you don't need to download if you have W10).

A capture device for direct rips, Greenshot for screencaps, and OBS for online recordings (if I can't directly download the source).

For DVDs, I use DVDShrink to actually browse around on the disc and find what I want to use, then I rip using HandBrake. For online sources I'll screen-record using OBS. On the rare occasions I do off-air recordings, I have a cheap DVR with a USB plugged in that I record to.

For taking screenshots of logos when I am on Chrome OS, I use the built-in Screen Capture tool. That's how I got the Cruella trailer version of the Disney logo.

I use Hauppauge WinTV for over-the-air and tape transfers. Occasionally I will use a DVD recorder. For DVDs/Blu-Ray discs, I use MakeMKV. If push comes to shove (weird disc structure, etc.), I'll just do a video capture. For screen-recordings, I'll use OBS.

I use MakeMKV/Handbrake/DVDFab 9 to rip DVDs with logos in them (although Handbrake doesn't work for DVDs with copy protection). I also rip VCDs with logos via VCDGear, and I rip VHS tapes via MAGIX Save your videotapes. I record from television via Crypto, F&U, Biltmore and TV STAR decoders; I rip my recs via Avidemux in x264.
