Background

Freeform Productions is a British television production company founded in 1999. They are best known for A Place in the Sun.



1st Logo (9 October 1999?-10 June 2004)


Logo: Set on a steel blue background, a custard shaped like a sandcastle with dark shading wobbles on a plate laying on top of a blue table. While "a" and "production" fade in, "Freeform" zooms out while readjusting back and forth.

Technique: Rotoscoping.

Music/Sounds: A strange wobbling sound. Otherwise, none or the ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Extinct. Seen on early series of A Place in the Sun

2nd Logo (8 September 2004-23 September? 2019)

Logo: The custard from before, now in black, swiftly slides in from the left, wobbling back and forth after the plate stops sliding. "Freeform" flies in over the dish with each letter desynced from each other. "A" inside a white box slides in from the left and rests over the "re" in Freeform" and "PRODUCTION" zooms in individually underneath the company name.

Technique: 2D computer animation,

Music/Sounds: Several electronic whooshes and a cartoony wobbling sound.

Availability: Seen on series of A Place in the Sun and its spin-offs from this period as well as Dream Lives for Sale. Episodes of the former can be found on on-demand serivces such as All4.

3rd Logo (26 August 2019-)

Logo: The company name is in magenta and a stacked format, with the former word bolded and having a white inline color.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Current. Seen on The Great Hotel Escape and newer series of A Place in the Sun, including its spin-offs.
