Background

Front Row Filmed Entertainment is an Emirati film company launched in December 2003 by Gianluca Chakra. In its first few years, the company has co-produced multiple successful independent features such as Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, which was the first ever documentary released theatrically in the Middle Earth. In 2004, Front Row became the distributor for multiple Warner Bros. Pictures movies in the Gulf region. Throughout the years, Front Row has made many long-term deals with Hollywood studios big and small.



1st Logo (early 2000s?)


Visuals: On a black background, the letters "F R" appear in a neon-sign-like format, glowing blue. The letters then gain a white color between the blue lines, before they fold and become a flash of light. The words "FRONT ROW" then emerge, in the same style as the letters, and the words "Filmed entertainment" appear underneath in white, with a light moving across them.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A mellow synth theme, with a laser sound for the light flash.

Availability: Seen on their early releases, including a DVD of Circle of Friends.

2nd Logo (late 2000s?-early 2010s?)


Visuals: On a gray background, the letters "F" and "R" are shown in close-up, with hollow insides. After some shots of this, the letters are seen in full, with them casting shadows on a blue wall. The camera moves until the letters and their shadows are aligned, with darkness around the part of the wall the shadows are on. The background then becomes white and the letters become blue. A light ball moves in a line below the letters, creating the words "FRONT ROW FILMED ENTERTAINMENT" in blue.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: Somewhat ominous music, laser-like sounds, and wind howling at the end.

Availability: Seen on their releases of the time, including a DVD of Princess Mononoke.

3rd Logo (2016-)


Visuals: On a blue or black background, "Front Row", in a cursive font similar to the current Fremantle logo, writes itself in. After finishing, "FILMED ENTERTAINMENT" in a serif font pops up below the cursive text, ala the Samuel Goldwyn Films logo.

Variant: On Emirati trailers for various films such as Monster Academy and Deep Water, the logo is in warp-speed.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None. On movie trailers, it's the opening theme of the trailer.

Availability: Can be seen on Arabic prints of films co-produced by Front Row such as Their Finest, Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero, The Marksman, Gintama: The Final and DogMan.
